The Art of Stylish, Comfy Travel – A True Game-Changer!

Casual Attire, Fashion Trends

Who doesn’t want to be comfortable and look their chicest self when they travel?

The art of stylish, comfy travel not only pays off in spades in terms of the obvious—comfort—but also from the standpoint of the confidence you’ll feel from looking your chicest, dressed in stunning simplicity. And let’s face it, it is also truly a divine treat for the self!

If you want to be super comfortable and look like a million when traveling, this article will be a game-changer for you. Enjoy and implement!

Those of you who know me won’t be surprised that I encourage an all-black color palette. From a practical standpoint, it is the best in terms of hiding any spots you might incur while traveling. And in terms of chic, I am pretty sure nothing more needs to be said. The visual impact of black is massive. The simplicity and ease with which you can put your look together is almost mind-boggling.

BOTTOMS

So, what does a winning travel look consist of? It can go several ways, but let’s start with my favorite, which involves leggings, yoga pants, wide-leg pants, and these days, even lightweight joggers which are adorable and pack so much punch. Always make sure they are fresh-looking and not the ones you have been living in at home. You want to look pristine, polished and pulled together.

If you prefer jeans, go for it, but remember that you want to be comfortable, and snug jeans are not always so when traveling. You should know that when flying, doctors recommend clothing that “gives” to compensate for swelling that occurs with altitude. If you do choose the jeans route, go with bootcut/flare jeans as they appear more put together.

TRAVEL TOPS

For tops, when it comes to travel, I am a fan of longer, fluted T-shirts. This A-line silhouette is flattering on every body shape, and you’re going to want to go with black or white when choosing colors.

In addition to T-shirts, I have also included some oversized white collared shirts. This look packs an incredible punch when worn with the blazers that you’ll see in the “Third Pieces” section. These timeless white cotton shirts look fabulous worn out over cropped leggings.

You will also note some black tunic sweaters in this section as they are adorable over a white T-shirt. The sweaters can be worn as a top or your third piece tied around your waist or shoulders. They are easy, incredibly flattering, and perfect for layering to accommodate fluctuating in-flight temperatures. I just know you’ll love them.

THIRD PIECES

The cardigans I’ve shopped for you pair easily with T-shirts and will keep you cozy in flight. This year’s double-breasted blazers are a big deal and a fabulous look! I truly believe that the double-breasted silhouette (versus the single-breasted version) packs a real style “punch,” so that’s what I tend to lean toward.

If you are headed to a more temperate clime, an oversized denim jacket worn or tied at the waist is another way you can go in terms of your third piece. The contrast of the denim paired with an all-black color palette really pops the look. Having said that, I’m still a major fan of the blazer which ups your chic exponentially, as does the chic and cozy cardigan.

Regardless of the route you choose, any of the cardigans, denim jackets, and blazers in this post will serve as the perfect third piece for your travel wear and can be considered the “glue” that pulls your chic look together.

TRAVEL ACCESSORIES

I’ve pulled together a few fabulous accessories that will polish your look as you travel in chic comfort.

I am possessed by the sunglasses that will have you looking like a celebrity not to mention some simple (and stunning) jewelry. And the cashmere wrap? Never leave home without this luxurious oh-so-cozy piece!

SHOES

When it comes to shoes, comfort is essential. I always do flat with the exception of ankle boots which, even with a heel, if they are designer quality, are super comfortable. With that in mind, I recommend a yummy pair of flat sandals for summer.

Slides are such a hot ticket this season that I have included a couple of them, as they are both comfy and chic for travel. Another comfortable candidate for a more casual look is the white leather sneaker. Wear those only with wide-leg lounge pants and bootcut or flare leggings.

And finally, depending on your destination, a pair of pointy-toe ankle booties could also work and look sensationally chic. Speaking of booties, in this circumstance, they will work only with bootcut, flare-leg, or wide-leg bottoms.
