Stories from The Source
Every extraordinary watch we source has a story behind it—why it was sought after, how we found it, and what made it special to our client. Here, Bobbi shares a few of her favorite sourcing stories, offering a glimpse into the remarkable pieces we’ve uncovered.

The Rolex President in White Gold—Exactly As He'd Envisioned...
Our first story is about sourcing a Rolex President in white gold, 40 mm, with a white dial and Roman numerals. When I placed the order through my usual Rolex contact, he laughed and said, “Bobbi, we’ll just have to wait and see what shows up—if a white dial comes in, great; if not, that’s what it is.”
That response didn’t sit well with me. This was a nearly $50,000 watch—yet I believe that, whether it’s a $500 or $50,000 piece, a client should have exactly what they envision. Rather than wait, I turned to our sourcing network.
Through our connections in The Drop, we located the precise watch—brand-new, with a five-year warranty—exactly as my client had requested. We even provided full concierge service: we picked it up for him in New York and delivered it personally.
The result? A flawless, brand-new Rolex President in white gold with the white dial and Roman numerals he’d dreamed of. He was overjoyed with the entire experience—grateful not only for the watch itself but for the ease and personal attention we provided.
The Rolex President 36 mm — A Timeless Choice and a Smart Investment
Our second story involves the same client who purchased the 40 mm Rolex President. From the beginning, I had encouraged him to consider the 36 mm white-gold model with the white dial and Roman numerals. In my view, the 36 mm has a timeless elegance—while trends shift toward larger sizes like the 40 mm, the 36 mm endures.
At first, he went with the 40 mm, which is what nearly every man is ordering right now. He even asked me to call my Rolex contact to check: out of 100 men, almost all were choosing the 40 mm. He wanted to know how long the 40 mm would remain in style, and I estimated about a decade before the pendulum would swing back to the classic 36 mm.
Once he had his 40 mm, he began thinking about his two sons and how he’d like to leave each of them something meaningful. That brought him back to the 36 mm. We also discussed the market realities: Rolex had already raised prices twice this year—about 17%—gold prices were rising, the Swiss franc was stronger, and the U.S. had imposed a 39% tariff on Swiss imports. Combined with limited shipments from Rolex to the U.S., supply was tightening and prices were sure to climb further.
I reminded him that his own father had paid around $10,000 for his Rolex decades ago, and that today’s prices would likely seem like a bargain in the future. Factoring in rising costs and the watch’s investment value, he decided not to wait. We secured the 36 mm President in white gold with the white dial and Roman numerals, and we’ll be delivering it this week.
A Rare Treasure: The Patek Philippe Diamond-Set Timepiece
This story features a truly extraordinary watch—a Patek Philippe with an alligator band and diamonds encircling the dial. This stunning piece is no longer in production, making it a coveted collector’s item.
It was chosen as a gift for a very special occasion, which made the search even more meaningful. We had so much fun sourcing it and were thrilled to locate exactly what our client envisioned. Elegant, rare, and unforgettable—this watch was the perfect find for such a momentous celebration.
Two Happy Finds: The Hermès Clipper Watches
Our final story is a personal favorite. I’ve adored the Hermès Clipper watch since it was first introduced, but never purchased one. Eventually, I decided I didn’t want to wait any longer—only to find out it was no longer in production.
Thanks to our sourcing team, we tracked one down for me, and I’ve cherished it ever since. A few months later, while visiting a friend in California, she noticed my watch and immediately fell in love with it too. When she asked if we could find one for her, we went to work—and we did.
Now, two very happy ladies are wearing their Hermès Clipper watches—both sourced with care and delight.
