Ready for the Easiest Way to Transition into Fall?
One of our favorite casual looks is the utility look. We love it because it is easy and fun, and while it sometimes emerges as a trend, the reality is that it’s timeless—and, for today’s purposes, the perfect transition look!
Naturally, the utility look involves an olive green or olive khaki color palette. When paired with a white T-shirt and sneakers, clogs, neutral suede booties—be they chunky or pointed-toe—or flip-flops, it becomes the quintessential casual go-to.
I am possessed by this look and the ease with which we can all make it chic. And, as an added bonus, utility pants and jackets can be worn year-round and easily changed up according to the season you’re in. For our purposes here, the utility look serves beautifully as a casual chic transition look.
If you are like me, you are itching to start wearing the luxurious fabrics and clothes of fall—but the weather prohibits diving right into that yummiest of dressing seasons.
Transitioning from season to season is always a difficult time in fashion, as it’s hard to find transitional fabric weights. However, there are utility pants and jackets everywhere, so be sure to include this look along with your other summer-to-fall must-haves. It is a winner for sure!
Ready? Let’s go!
Utility Pants
I have shopped some delicious neutrals in the form of pants, from off-white to olives and khakis. The silhouettes you see here are comfy, easy to wear, and seriously show-stopping. Note the wide-leg and barrel-leg options, which will provide you with an updated version of this fun pant. Each is a compliment magnet.
White Tees
I see a white T-shirt as the perfect top for this chic, casual utility look, so I’ve included a few of my favorites. The crispy white of this wardrobe essential pulls your look together and pops your presentation.
Button-Front Shirts
These shirts—some flannel, some plaid, and some denim—can all be worn buttoned up or layered over an iconic crew-neck white tee and left unbuttoned, creating a shacket kind of look. You can also button them only at the bottom, creating a V that is elongating and slenderizing. Both are fabulous!
Third Pieces
Denim Jackets: A fabulous denim jacket is an essential third piece to own. It belongs in every woman’s wardrobe as an essential piece, and it serves you most of the year—depending on how cold your locale becomes in the winter.
Barn Jackets and Utility Jackets:
These pieces are edgy and timeless—a combination you cannot beat—and will, no doubt, garner endless compliments.
Statement Belts
The statement belts you see here will pull your utility look together and add another layer of serious pop! They all bring the wow factor with them. In addition, use them with all your denim looks. Wow!
Summing it all up…
Remember, as you shop, that as winter approaches, you can layer cozy, luxurious sweaters—be they high-neck or V-neck—over the white tee, depending on how chilly it gets where you live.
Trade in your flip-flops for clogs, lug-sole boots, and pointed-toe boots, and off you go—wearing the same utility pants and jackets you wore the season before!
