Today I’d like to share something that may or may not come as a surprise. Your shoes are the first “tell” of your success.

When we meet someone new, we are assessed in the blink of an eye, and that assessment begins and ends with our feet. Right or wrong, the shoes you wear make a huge impact on how you are perceived by others.

In my years as CEO of Be Iconic Style, I’ve had the honor of working with, and in a few cases, interviewing some incredible women who share my passion for wanting to help other women in one capacity or another. One of those powerhouses is a very successful divorce attorney whose mission is to help women become more informed, powerful, and equal partners in their marriage. I interviewed Rebecca for a segment we did on IGTV, and, as it happens, she was wearing a stunning pair of Christian Louboutin “So Kate” pumps. I commented, “love your shoes,” at which point she began to emphatically share her opinion of the role designer shoes (among other power pieces) play on people’s perceptions of you. I felt as if she had channeled me!

Once I made an investment in my shoes, I began to notice that a lot of people will identify a luxury good, like a shoe or a watch, as a sign of success or status.
