With the changeover from Summer to Fall comes a whole new list of trends. Welcome to the Fall 2024 Trends Preview!
Consider this week’s post a preview of our favorite Fall trends for the season. In it, we will share an overview of those favorites, with a few helpful details sprinkled throughout.
This week’s shopping only showcases a few pieces from each trend, but in the following weeks, we’ll expound upon them by sharing the new arrivals that have come in. And because it’s Fall, you know they’ll be delicious! This will be such a fun journey of treasures from which to choose your new Fall looks.
The trends we’ll be seeing are all over the board, so as usual, I have gone through and selected timeless keepers that will serve you well—along with some fun and edgy pieces. There’s so much to love!
THE TRENDS
One of the hottest trends this season is “Ladylike” dressing, which encompasses two separate trends—quiet luxury and elegance—qualities that can be neatly wrapped up as ladylike. As a part of this trend, you will see full skirts and a trend toward dressing up and elevating your look daily.
Look for timeless and oversized coats along with updated capes. You will see these everywhere.
Cozy sweaters, including pullovers and cardigans, are also big this season. Look for luxe knits and warm, snuggly silhouettes.
You’ll also see high necks in sweaters, dresses, coats, and more. They include everything from easy turtlenecks left standing up (rather than folded) to stand-up collars that graze your chin.
Leather jackets in various colors and styles will abound and range from cropped to blazer length.
Sheer looks are returning, and in my opinion, the best way to see this gorgeous trend is to stick with the sheer blouse paired with luxe wide-leg pants.
Look out for wide legs in pants and jeans. This year, some will be so wide, call them palazzo pants. When shopping for your wide-leg denim, look for relaxed, easy-fitting silhouettes.
As in the previous season, denim on denim continues to be a strong trend. You’ll want to mix and match your denim pieces. They can be different shades and tones as long as they complement each other.
Cargo pants also continue to be a strong trend, moving toward more wintery looks. They are such an easy showstopping pant, and this season, pair them with pointed-toe boots and those luxe sweaters mentioned above.
You will find Plaid in many forms, from shirts to dresses to shoes and bags. So, channel your inner Scottish lass.
In shoes, look for tall boots, both riding and chunkier silhouettes, as well as sleek pointed-toe ankle, knee-high and thigh-high boots. Moto boots are big as well!
In terms of bags, look for top-handle bags such as bowling and doctor’s bags. In addition, you will see the extremes of the mini bag and the oversized bags, with many yummy options in both.
And when it comes to this season’s trending color palette, look for pale pink, greys, camels, and black with a bit of red and Bordeaux thrown into the mix.
