This month I wanted to share something with you that has inspired and brought reality to dreams of mine. It is called the dream board.
Not only is this idea a very fun task, but it also brings clarity to the direction of your aspirations and dreams. It brings joy as you view what you have on your board. I have heard story after story of the manifestation of what was on someone’s dream board being brought into reality. I can certainly attest to that as I have had my board for many years now.
In “Secrets of the Millionaire Mind”, T. Harv Eker states that most of us don’t get what we want because we don’t know what we want. Making a dream board will help you identify specifically what you want to achieve or become or acquire, and then your dream board will help lead you in that direction.
I love the following quotes by Ralph Waldo Emerson and Albert Einstein respectively: “What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.” “Imagination is everything. It is the preview of life’s coming attractions.”
So, what exactly is a dream board and how do you make one?
The dream board is a collection of pictures that speak to your soul. They are places you want to visit, a home you would love to own, and a car you dream about… And more; things that speak to your soul on all levels. It might include showing a building you would like to have for your business. It might include a charity you are passionate about. Whatever speaks to you put it on your board. One thing to be sure about though is to make it accurate. For instance, if you want a Jaguar, and you want a white one, do not put up a picture of a black one… you will probably end up with the black color as that is what you will manifest. Be clear about what you want…. Clarity is key.
This is such a joyous project and I can tell you from personal experience, not only does it work, but every time I look at mine my heart soars.
Where do you put your board and how do you make it? My boards have always been on my closet door. I take the pictures of what I want and tape them there against the door and on each other so it makes a sort of collage. I have seen poster board, corkboard, and other materials for the backdrop, but I recommend making it easy on you. And I also seriously recommend … just getting started.
I go through magazines continually and tear out pictures. The main sources of my board are magazine pictures. And here is a thought as well, if one of your dreams is to have the home of your dreams, yet you don’t subscribe to “Architectural Digest” then begin making it a fun project to view the magazine every month at Barnes & Noble or your local store. Once you see interiors and exteriors that speak to you, buy that copy and tear away, same with fashion magazines. Go to the car dealership of your dream vehicle and get the brochure or take a picture of the color and model that you love on the lot or on the showroom floor. Check out your favorite travel magazine for the amazing destinations of your heart. Anything that is part of what you want your life to include wants to be on your board. This project is a journey so start and continue to add.
Over the years I have heard story after story of people getting exactly what they had on their boards…. I can tell you personal story after story regarding mine.
This is such a joyous project and I can tell you from personal experience, not only does it work, but every time I look at mine my heart soars. Be sure to take this time and these easy steps to invest in you.
Have fun!
